The 2003 student visualization competition was once again a great success! A total of 9 students entered from the SIO campus, with impressive and novel visualizations of their research data. Dr. Graham Kent was the M.C. again this year; however four new judges were selected for the tough job of assessing the entries. Many thanks to Steve Cutchin (SDSC), Neal Driscoll (GRD, SIO), Jennifer Matthews (IGPP, SIO), and Dave Sandwell (IGPP, SIO) for their excellent judging.
The Visualization Center competition turned out to be a great success, with original presentations from 10 graduate students. The competition was close, but there was a clear winner, Kurt Schwehr, who impressed all the judges with his great dataset. Runners-up [in no particular order] were Allison Jacobs and Jeff Dingler. The lucky winners took home an Apple iPod each.
