HPWREN & CEOA at AAAS 07
Description
The High Performance Wireless Research and Education Network (HPWREN) and The Center for Earth Observations and Applications (CEOA) demonstrated cyberinfrastructure tools and technologies for environmental monitoring in the National Science Foundation (NSF) booth during the 2007 American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) Annual Meeting from 15 - 19 February in San Francisco.
HPWREN enables real time data collection and display, live feed video and audio to classrooms and bulk data transport for locations like the Santa Margarita Ecological Reserve, California Wolf Center, Palomar Observatory and the NEES sites at UCSB and UCLA. Each of these projects was demonstrated during the exhibition. Scripps Institution of Oceanography operates a variety of research sensor networks such as the Earthscope USArray, the Southern California Coastal Ocean Observing System (SCCOOS) and the Real-Time Observations, Applications and Data Management Network (ROADNet). Real time data from these networks and the technology involved was highlighted at the exhibition. The real time data streams were displayed on the Mobile INteractive Imaging Multidisplay Environment (MiniMe) system developed by the Center for Earth Observations and Applications, UCSD.
