SGI

The SGI runs a different window manager than most of the other computers around here. Here are some shortcuts I've gleaned from various sources, they are worth memorizing, or you can usually just type:

cat /net/dbs/sgi

This table lists the functions invoked by using Alt and the function keys.

ALT FUNCTION
1 raise -- pull to top of window stack
3 lower -- push to bottom of window stack
4 close
5 restore -- normal size from maxed or minimized.
7 move
8 size
9 minimize -- also upper right dot
10 maximize -- also upper right square
12 exit

Making a snapshot of your buttons

To make a snapshot of your buttons / menus, use the program "snapshot". It's a little hard to use, but makes nice pictures. I think you have to use the left mouse button to define a region and then the right to save the file. Then use xv to change snap.rgb to a gif, jpg, or png.
