This visualization includes: The mainshock (large red diamond), EarthScope’s USArray seismic stations (purple cylinders), USA state boundaries (yellow lines), previously recorded global seismicity (Yellow points, ~13,000 seismic events from the 1900-2002 Engdahl Centennial Earthquake Catalog), plate tectonic boundaries (transform faults: yellow; trenches: blue; ocean ridges: pink), and volcanic hotspots (dark pink diamonds). Seismic waveforms of the mainshock event recorded by EarthScope’s Array Network Facility (ANF) and damage photos from the region are included as a vertical image. We also include topography and bathymetry of the region where regions of high elevation are in browns and light greens and regions of lower elevations are in forest greens, on the sea floor light blue indicates higher elevations than the darker blues.
